Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was able to park right where the trail starts (Gaia is accurate but it’s not at all obvious) it’s on the opposite (east) side of the road. Barely enough room to get the entire car off the somewhat narrow dirt road. I drive a small SUV. There is another potential place to park as well. Please email me for that info. The road in is paved for a short ways then changes to dirt. Given all the rain earlier in the day, the road was very solid.

Water Crossing Notes

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: This is not an official trail and is not signed. It’s only marked by a few very occasional old yellow arrows on trees at some tricky turns. That said, I don’t recall many blowdowns so it does seem to get some use and maintenance.

Comments
Comments: Day 159, Peak 145. A great post-work hike. The sun had come out and it was in the low 50s.

The unofficial trail starts in an orchard/field. Follow the barely noticeable path forming in the grass due to use. Aim for an opening in the woods. Gaia had the trail in precisely the right location. The ascent is steady and a bit stiff but not terribly steep. The trail was still wet from all the rain earlier in the day and rock you stepped on was quite slick as well. The side path to Little Larcom can’t be all that obvious as I missed it both on the way up and on the way down. I’d meant to check it out on my descent but didn’t realize until I was about a quarter mile past it. The trail is a bit obscure as it turns SW to the main peak. Partway up the trail is waterlogged. Always looking for a good excuse to bushwhack, I went around it. Just after this is where some snow/ice started to appear and some will want spikes. The path takes you directly to the highpoint. No jar but great views from this ledge :)

The hike is 2mi with about 1000ft of gain. It took me 1hr10min with picture stops and some time at the top.
