 | Comments: |
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ASCEND LOWE’S PATH WITHOUT FULL 12 POINT CRAMPONS!
First two miles bare bootable. The next mile or so to Gray Knob junction was HARD BULLET ICE. The woods surrounding the trail had HARD BULLET ICE. You CANNOT AVOID it. Highly recommend NOT DESCENDING via LOWE’S PATH. At Gray Knob we used (beater) spikes to Adams summit then over to Madison summit. There are some serious ice flows on upper VW - recommend SHARP microspikes - or full crampons if you are a cautious type person. Somewhere around the lower water crossings we swapped back to beater spikes. |
