Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked at the Basin parking area on 93 North (east side). In Google Maps, to select it instead of the Basin parking area on 93 South, search for "vault toilet near Lincoln, NH"! The vault toilets are closed, however. The parking area is small, but it had only one other car at 9am.

Comments
Comments: To save 0.7 mi each way, we started at the Basin parking area on 93 North instead of the hikers parking area off Route 3, and after 0.3 mi south on Whitehouse Trail, took a left onto a 0.2 mile bushwhack to join Liberty Spring where it makes a sharp turn. Up until the large stream crossing at 2050 ft. elevation, we saw a frequently changing mixture of rocks, wet leaves/mud, shallow snow, and small avoidable ice patches, so bare boots were best. Above that, the trail was snow and ice, with the surface being mostly snow. There were frequent steep sections with ice, but most were covered in a few inches of packed snow, so microspikes sufficed, all the way to the summit. The loose snow on the trail was never deep enough to call for snowshoes.
