The clouds and rain held off to I summited Mount Pierce. What a great view today with Mount Washington and the surrounding peaks in full view. Always enjoy the alpine zone view. I was planning on going to Mount Eisenhower, but the wind picked and the sky got cloudy and darken very quick. Once the rain started I decided to take the Webster Cliff trail to the Mizpah Hut and then take the Mizpah cutoff back to the Crawford trail. However, there were very faint signs of prints in the non tracked out snow which was deep and I missed the Mizpah cutoff sign hand ended up on the Webster Jackson trail for awhile until I checked my All Trails app which confirmed my mistake. I back tracked following my tracks and found the cutoff sign and this trail was not easy to follow either. The trail and woods looked the same and was happy to see the few blue blazes to confirm. Once back to the Crawford it was smooth and fast hiking back to where I parked. Any day you can hike in Presidential’s and have clear views it’s a great day! |
