The road in is dirt but fairly wide and only mildly-moderately muddy and rutted. FWD and low-clearance vehicles will be okay. We had room to park our two cars off to the side at the end of the road.

Comments
Comments: Day 150, Peak 141. 2nd hike of the day after Green Mtn in Claremont. In the low 40s but the skies had mostly clouded over by now.

We walked Croydon Turnpike SE for about 1/3mi, passing some well used roads/snowmobile trails along the way, then, where the road turns more easterly, saw a less defined road and some blaze and yellow tape in the woods. We followed this ill-defined trail for the summit, losing it once. A thin layer of snow being over some of it didn’t help, but I think the trail is genuinely not very well defined and gets little use too. Some blowdowns and lots of small debris along it. A bit steep/left at times and there’s a spot or two to be careful on with ice but it wasn’t worth it to me to throw on the spikes though some may wish to. The ledges up top actually give a pretty nice if restricted view of the White Mountains though you likely won’t notice until you’re on your way down. I could see all the major above tree line 4000 footer ranges: Moosilauke, Franconia Ridge, and Washington. I was both surprised and impressed! Some cool artifacts of sorts around the summit too. This was a cool one ;) There is an old pill bottle by the high point a short distance from the summit sign. Behind the summit sign there is a view to the SE.

Once we signed in and checked out the views, we headed back down. Shortly after the obstructed view to the Whites (may have been immediately after actually coming down that ledge) we got off trail a wee bit to the NE before connecting back with the trail and following it NW back to Croydon Turnpike which was very muddy at times. The hike was about 2.25mi with about 700ft of gain. 215 more days and 224 more peaks to go…
