Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the start of the access rd on Cat Hole Rd in Claremont. There was already one car there to my surprise, two of us, then another car upon our return so things got a little tight but that said you can park 4+ cars there if you’re careful. Just be sure you don’t back up into the drainage and get your car stuck like my friend!

Comments
Comments: Day 150, Peak 140. 1st hike of the day. Nice to have a warmer day after the last two days! Started off nice and sunny too!

We walked the access road to the first tower then continued south and did the out-and-back to the first viewpoint (follow the signs for the “view). Wide view from here! There were a few spots where ice more or less covered the entire road but they were few and far between so the vast majority of people won’t bother putting on spikes. On our way back from this viewpoint, we followed a herd path briefly on the eastern side of the ridge but soon came to a “KEEP OUT” sign so made our way back to the main road, followed it back to the first tower, and turned right to continue along the ridge to the highpoint. No register. Occasional frozen puddles and snow. Not much mud with recent cold temps.

The hike was about 3.5mi with 850ft of gain. Take of a half mile and 50ft if not going to the southern viewpoint. 215 more days and 225 more peaks to go…
