Comments
Comments: A nice hike of Mt Jackson. Started with micros until Jackson Branch then upgraded to hillsound trail crampons until just before the summit changed into g12s as hillsounds were not cutting it.Any sort of aggressive traction would work. There is approximately 1.5-2" of fresh powder covering many icy spots throughout. Upper elevations had some 12" drifts that were kindly broken out by the three hikers ahead of me. Thanks! Just below and up to the summit is a mix of drifted powder covering granular ice, clear ice, and blue as well as ample bare rock. With todays winds and low temps it was full on winter conditions. While not sure the wind speed but gusts were enough to move me around for sure. Trail base is rock solid and snowshoes stayed in the trunk. Met 4 others enjoying this Spring day in the Mountains
