Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The landowner who I’d hiked the main peak with was kind enough to drop me off and pick me up at the tower access road and allowed me to leave my car on their property. I would not currently attempt to drive and park along this road to access this peak without AWD at minimum. My FWD car would’ve gotten stuck at some point. Also, I wasn’t paying close attention since I wasn’t the one driving, but there really didn’t seem to be a good place to park at the base of this peak to access it.

Comments
Comments: Day 145, Peak 132. 2nd hike of the day after the main peak. While the main peak and Spruce Knob is on private land, this peak is not. You cannot access the main peak from north peak without illegally accessing the land either.

I followed the access road to the top of the peak. It starts between two houses/buildings and is behind a gate but it is a public road so legally accessed. Make sure to bear left at the first jct. I think there was another fork further up the mountain not shown on Gaia where I bore left as well. Grades overall were moderate. Road was wet/muddy. Somewhat to my surprise, the road still had some good snow on it higher up and around the summit area. Definitely more than Dalton. All postholes were made by yours truly ;) Not enough or worth it to bring snowshoes and I don’t think spikes would help but I’d recommend still using waterproof gaiters on this one. Very short whack from the tower to the RHP. One of the sign ins in the register indicated that there were some nearby knobs worth checking out. I did some exploring around the summit and while, at best, I found filtered views through the trees on other locally high points, I didn’t find any great views. Their comment could have meant that these other knobs were contenders for the true high point too which seemed reasonable. Then again, I only ventured maybe 200ft east outside of the highest contour and made a little loop.

The hike is a bit over a mile round trip with about 450ft of gain. 220 more days and 233 more peaks to go…
