Comments
Comments: Day 145, Peak 131. 1st hike and peak of the day. A nice afternoon hike after the rain, snow, and sleet mix had stopped.

**YOU NEED LANDOWNER PERMISSION TO HIKE THESE PEAKS** They published a trail report for Dalton Mtn and you can find their contact info there. They were kind enough to offer me a guided tour of the peaks. Of course I took them up on their offer and throughly enjoyed a tour of both the property, trails/roads, and peaks! Fantastic views and great history here :) Spruce Knob is the northern subpeak approximately 2070ft tall which has nice views. Both of these peaks are on their land and there is no way to access these peaks legally without their permission. We got to the main peak via old Skidder roads mostly. They were wet of course but mostly free of snow/ice. Carried microspikes but certainly didn’t need them. To get to Spruce Knob, we mostly followed a herd path. Getting down the mountain, we followed other Skidder roads with a wee bit of bushwhacking mixed in to visit an old home’s foundation; very cool!

The hike was about 2.25mi with 475ft of gain. It took us 1hr10min to complete at a good clip but also taking many breaks and photos along the way :) 220 more days and 234 more peaks to go…
