Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: 1. Two lovely bridges. 2. Tiny streams crossing the trail. 3. Area near the base of the falls where you would normally rock hop is still covered with snow for the most part. But watch out, much of this is starting to disintegrate.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Bridges in great condition, good signage, good blazes. Thank you!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Great hike for dogs. Several out, including one senior citizen enjoying his day.
Bugs
Bugs: I saw one skeeter. Prema saw a few bugs.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There is a glove on a stick at the beginning of the trail. I think it was white, with a dark stripe.

Comments
Comments: A great one for early spring. For those who love the spring melt but don't want sketchy water crossings this is perfect. Snow shoes were not needed today, but you should have traction, as there are icy spots. Folks who have "rock spikes" may wish to use them as there are bare stretches with rocks along portions of the trail. But should we get some snow in the near future, please carry or wear your snow shoes. Be careful at the base of the falls, all that snow is starting to break up and may collapse. Huge chunks of blue ice that have broken free of the falls are lying there; beautiful, but I wouldn't want to be under one!

I would recommend taking Bemis Brook Trail first. You can enjoy the smaller falls and then there is a steep (but short) climb to rejoin the Arethusa Trail. When you descend, the views from the Arethusa Falls trail are great. Especially with no leaves yet. Good view of Frankenstein Cliffs.
