Comments
Comments: Used Hillsound spikes door to door. If you go early in the day and/or if temps are below freezing, spikes were fine. Otherwise recommend snowshoes for the upper 3 miles of trail to the summit. If we get a few inches of snow, also recommend snowshoes for that upper 3 miles.

The lower two miles of trail was a mix of bare ground, mud, leaves, flattish monorail, and packed icy snow in the morning. Was slushy in the late afternoon but did not cause balling.

Starting at the switchbacks it was consistent packed snow in the morning with icy patches at a couple of the switchback turns. It all became a slick in the late afternoon. Loose slush on top but still with a mostly solid base underneath. Many places along the switchbacks got churned up in the afternoon due to some folks glissading on spikes - so expect that to be choppy.
