Beautiful day for hiking- temps mid 30's-mid 40's; top 900 feet fantastic rime ice; rocks up Airline from Gulfside a bit tricky, but could pick your way where sun hit rocks and prior boot tracks melted ice. Even saw a diapensia still blooming protected by a triangle of rock. Best to descend via Gulfside to Valley Way rather than back down Airline. Bonus- moose at Madison hut- looked lonely with hut closed. |
