Comments
Comments: micro spikes up and back. Trails are a mix of soft granular snow, hard pack snow base with loose granular, wet leaves in an inch of water, minimal mud, sheets of ice. Quite icy the last .3 to the Falls. Most of the water at the base of the Falls is still bridged. Arethusa Falls was gorgeous today. The center from the top down is ice free and flowing beautifully. The outer edges are still thick with ice. Worth sitting a while to enjoy. On the way back we descended down to Bemis Brook. The drop down is VERY steep, although mostly clear of snow it does required lots of careful foot placement between the roots. The bottom section still has some ice and loose granular. Might be worth climbing up out of Bemis Brook rather than going down. The falls on Bemis Brook were flowing nicely. Worth the adding to the hike.
