Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Snow bridges are falling and water was high after Saturday's rain. The first water crossing on Isolation trail after the Engine Hill Bushwhack was doable, but the 2nd crossing that wanted to take you on the east side of the river away from the mountain was not easily crossable. We knew we had to cross again to get on the mountain side, so we made our own bushwhack along the west side of the river

Comments
Comments: A bit of a mixed bag out there. Microspikes from the trailhead to the Engine Hill Bushwhack, then we switched to snowshoes until the summit. Saw 3 others all day and all in snowshoes. The Engine Hill Bushwhack meandered a bit and seemed to go higher than typical (so a little longer distance) but fine. Snow bridges of small drainages are starting to collapse so listen for running water under the snow. As noted above, we made a bushwhack on the left (west) side of the river after the first crossing on Isolation Trail to avoid all the back and forth (water was high on Sunday and bridges were collapsing). The upper bushwhack was not packed out so we just when to the Davis Path junction. Snowshoes back down to wear we put them on at the EHB/Rocky Branch junction. You could use either microspikes or snowshoes to the trailhead. We weren't punching through so we opted for quick feet on this last bit.
