The northern slope of Pitcher is covered in Blueberries and paths, without snow, the markings on the ground are easy to follow. Having done this trip a couple of times with various amounts of snow cover, a few more signs would be helpful, nothing fancy, just directional arrows would be good.
Was looking for something snow-free and this was an ideal short hike on my way back to CT. (Okay, I had to cross NH East to West which is not really quick but wasn't bad & my last couple of times back on weekends on 495 have been slow due to traffic so avoiding that mess was good too.)Pitcher is snow-free up the south side and through the blueberries. Only a couple of tiny easily avoidable icy spots that will likely be gone this week. Trail through blueberries is a shallow trench, so cold mornings may find some ice until the temps warm up. |
