Comments
Comments: Great to get back up north for some hiking. Trails started fairly firm this morning but had not totally set up overnight. Higher up on the ledges there snow was softer in the bright sun and plenty of melting happening. Pretty bony around the hut. Lots of ice between the hut and the summit of Monroe. Summit area of Monroe had only minor patches of snow and a little mud. I wore snowshoes up to the hut and then switched to crampons for the climb to the summit. Left the crampons on all the way back down to the Link split. Most people were in Microspikes today but all forms of traction could have been justified. Snow was getting very soft in the early afternoon but the foot bed was still firm enough to support without much issue. No signs of a monorail forming yet but i am sure it will be coming soon.
