Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Three crossing after you cross Bemis Bridge, the first one has a two-log bridge that has seen better days, the second had a log 3/4's of the way over that paired with the near-by rocks was crossable (took spikes off) and the third may be the best one with a single old sizeable birch log.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Three blowdowns, the lower one only required staying on the side of the trail, the next has a pretty good path around and the third, not too far from the ridge, requires kneeling to get under at current snow depths. High up, while I wouldn't say the monorail has made an appearance yet, it's beginning to crown. As you get higher, the typical winter trench is non-existent.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Did not see any
Bugs
Bugs: Too early still, although the temps are warming, the water must still be too cold.

Comments
Comments: Just before you reach the spur trail junction, several tracks veer left to the top of the rocks and then continue to wide open ledges offering superb views. However, in order to get back on the spur trail proper, you either have to re-trace your steps or bushwhack (follow the post-holes) in a generally north direction a little bit to get back on the Spur. Didn't bring snowshoes, some of the ice on the trail had me wishing I brought my full crampons but I managed fine with just one unplanned glissade. What I looked at when I left the car & wished I had brought though were my gaiters! It was warm enough so having wet feet from snow going down my boots wasn't an issue, however, drier is better.
