 | Comments: |
started bare boot from lot but soon put on spikes which stayed on till the summit. Valley way had soft exposed ice patches that the spikes could bite into today. Lots of running water on trail and also beneath it in sections. With the incoming rain, trail conditions may deteriorate. Above treeline is ice and exposed rock. Airline trail looks broken out from trailhead, However I didn't attempt the decent because of the fear of significant melting and slush above treeline. On the decent I used Hillshound pros which bit into the soft snow a little deeper. Still managed to post hole a couple of times. But the base seems mostly stable. 64 degrees in the parking lot upon return. Carried the snowshoes, but could have left them in the car. |
