Comments
Comments: Started at 10:45 with a temp of 50F. lower 1.25 miles of trail mostly ice and hard packed snow. micro spikes were needed, would not recommend doing without. next 1/2 mile mostly frozen granular snow and some ice. We came across a few post holes but snow shoes not needed. One of us wore snowshoes and the other microspikes and both of us did fine. The spikes did not posthole here. The last 1/2 mile, including the spur off Davis Path to the top, was softer and we came across a few more post holes but the trail was in mostly good shape. Snowshoes were better here, the spikes added a few post holes to the trail. There were a few bare rocky sections to cross, but short and no need to remove the snowshoes. Near the top there were quite a few post holes, snowshoes definitely better here. It was 60F at the top and we both wore out snowshoes from there and most of the way down as the snow was getting pretty soft.
