Trails: Crawford Connector, Crawford Path, Webster Cliff Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, March 17, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: For a Thursday there were several cars in the lot but spaces available. With a miserable weather forecast for most of the day on Saturday the last full day of winter and good weather forecasted for Friday, I would expect more cars tomorrow.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Slush
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues, earliest that I've seen a couple of the higher rivulets were open requiring an easy step over.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nothing that was easily avoided. A few trees that were hung up above the trail but they looked like they were pretty secure, no real widowmakers
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any
Bugs
Bugs: None yet....
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There was a shirt about 1/4 of the way up on the Crawford Path.

Comments
Comments: It feels almost dishonest to call today a winter hike. Having had miserable weather in May, June, September and the rest of the year, I won't lose any sleep over it. I suspect tomorrow will have lots of bare rock on the top. A couple of decent size drifts on the C-Path just before the junction with Webster Cliff but well packed thanks to hikers and the wind. A few younger hikers glissaded most of the way down, not sure it was someone else or them that realized that helmets might be a good idea as they were coming pretty close to some trees.
