|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||North Twin Mountain, South Twin Mountain, Galehead Mountain, NH|
||Little River Road, herd path, Haystack Road, North Twin Trail, North Twin Spur, Twinway, Frost Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail, Gale River Trail, Gale River Road, Beaver Brook XC ski trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Wednesday, March 16, 2022|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Spotted a car a Beaver Brook, not plowed upon arrival but with the warm temperatures the lot was nearly bare upon return
We headed for Seven Dwarfs parking area ($10 fee per car) place under wiper |
||Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow/Ice - Postholes, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||First two crossings are avoidable with herd path, and the third crossing was nicely “snow bridged” |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Some trees across the trail in places but easy to get around |
|Lost and Found:
||Not much snow in beginning more as we climbed. What made the climb to North Twin tough with the recent snow was the person from a recent hike “bare booting” , so we had to clean that mess plus break the new snow|
We were glad to get to North Twin, as numerous groups had come from Beaver Brook and had nicely broken out the rest of our journey to South Twin and Galehead.
We ran into Renee at the hut. Congratulations on finishing your NH winter peaks today.
Certainly a comfortable day of hiking on the beautiful Twins
