Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a microspike and a hand warmer packet on the trail around 3500'. I packed both out. The spike is now hanging on the gate at the beginning of Gale River Loop, and I discarded the hand warmer.

Comments
Comments: Nice bluesky day for this hike. Bareboot til about 3500' then snowshoes. Kept the snowshoes on to the summit and back to the same spot, then bareboot again. Trails (including roadwalk) had a few inches of fresh snow which was loose/unconsolidated. With the warm temps today (summit was 32 deg F at noon, 49 deg F back at the parking lot at 2pm) the snow was pretty soft and balling was definitely an issue with snowshoes. The "tiny ridge" at the start of the hike (first 1/4 mile after the trailhead) was very thin cover of snow and essentially grey slush for most of the way. After the water crossings, snow coverage was fine but again with the newest snow being quite soft over the packed base. Saw 5 other hikers, one with snowshoes, other four with micros.
