Excellent team hike of these two peaks. Snowshoes from the start to the chimney then donned the full crampons to climb the chimney- was a short but spicy climb at this time. (Descended via the dbl bypass.) Shoes went back on at the top of chimney until returning to E Osceola then descended the tricky parts with g12 crampons. Trails have a fair amount of loose granular covering ice. Although the first part of this hike could be barebooted or micros the steeps would imo be impossible or very unsafe to ascend let alone descend with todays conditions. My hiking partner had Hillsound Trail Crampon Pros and they worked as well. We met only 3 others enjoying this nearly bluebird day. loose snow on trail was turning to mashed potatoes by the end of the hike |
