Comments
Comments: CAUTION: We encountered an injured bear today on the Blueberry Ledge trail just above the Tom Wiggins junction. It is a young bear (maybe
1- 1/2 year old?)who has an injured right paw that it could not walk on. The bear came up behind us on the trail and continued to follow us an uneasy distance. We were able to scare the bear away for a few minutes, but then heard a group behind us also encounter the bear and scare it away with loud shouting. That group did not continue up the trail. This bear is NOT afraid of people, use caution when on this section of trail.

We originally were going to do just Whiteface today, but rather than chance another encounter with the bear, decided to just go over the ridge and down Dicey Mills trail. The new stairs on the Bluberry Ledge trail allowed us to make a speedy ascent away from the bear. Thankfully, the rest of the hike was uneventful. Great weather today, with cool temperatures.
