I walked the Class VI portion of Kingsbury Hill Rd. up to the height of land, then jumped into the woods for Jones Hill. Easy going up to the summit, where there is a register. I bushwhacked down the west side of Jones, crossed Kingsbury Hill Rd., and headed for Kingsbury Hill from a log landing. The lower part of this route requires pushing through some tighter logging regrowth before reaching open woods the rest of the way. The last bit up to the top is steeper. The summit has a register, red-painted cairn, and two red-striped trees. I took a different route down in hopes of avoiding the tighter woods, but to no avail. Oh well. Back at Kingsbury Hill Rd., it was an easy walk back to the car.
Minimal snow here from yesterday's storm. I started out in spikes but took them off during the ascent to Kingsbury because they were balling up. Off-trail snow was mainly supportive, although I did punch through in places. The snow pack here will drastically melt with this week's warmup. |
