Comments
Comments: Snowshoes went for a ride the whole way today although some may want them for extra traction on the ice between Pierce and Eisenhower. I stayed in Hillsounds. Only post holed if you stepped off the trail. Some icy patches on Crawford Connector, and Crawford Path between Pierce and Ike as well as Eisenhower Loop were VERY icy. Still ok in Hillsounds and using poles if careful. Parts of Eisenhower summit were bare. Patches of wet, slushy snow throughout. Actually had a bit of trouble following a section of the short Webster Cliff Trail to Pierce. If you can get down the steep, short walk to Gibbs Falls, the frozen falls are quite impressive IMO. Overall a beautiful day in the mountains- quite warm except for the wind at the top of Eisenhower which only really bothered my hands as usual! Major wildlife sighting today was one squirrel!
