Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Rock hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No blowdowns or blowouts. Monroe loop sign off and stored at base of pole. It won't be visible in winter. Interesting log addition to Ammo where trail washed out a bit on a slope. I guess it can be used to support the body and thus help keep feet on trail now; maybe more poles will be added in the future to form a "bridge"?
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Pepper and Cinnilla were real troopers today given the wind, sleet/snow and rain, and wet trails. No dippin today for Peper but the snow made for some good snout rubbing. No need to bring water for them today. I put a sweater on Pepper for the ridge since he is short haired for the summer.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A pair of (frozen) gloves and mitts, and a towel and shirt on a bench at the hut. Left in place.

Comments
Comments: Congratulations to Georg who finished the Grid on his 71st birthday on Monroe. Celebrating with him were fellow Gridders Doug Hunt and Bill Marcotte. Also on the hike were Steve Corcorran, Ned Bergman, and Per Frost with Cinnilla. What a great group of hikers. The weather was a challenge for this time of year, with showers early, snow/sleet on top, and wind on the ridge, which was particularly strong on Eisenhower’s and Monroe’s summit cones. We were prepared to turn around, and two did on Eisenhower, but at each peak the group discussed the conditions, and each time it was felt it was safe and enjoyable to go on; and it was. Wind/rain gear, warm clothing and gloves/mitts were needed. Lake of the Clouds Hut was closed, but we celebrated in the comfort of the dungeon. Doug brought the champagne. By the time we were down low it was back to Fall. What started out as a real iffy day turned out to be a great hike. Way to go Georg.
