| Comments: |
ICE ICE BABY. The technical sections were sheer ice with very little snow. Crampons 100% necessary. Ice Axe at a minimum, but dual ice tools would've been more appropriate. A rope was present from a larger group that went up earlier and it was completely necessary to ascend and descend with. More snow is needed to return this portion of the route to "normal". Above the technical section, there was much ice between the rocks to Lions Head and base of the summit cone. Snow depth 5" max where there was snow along the south side approach before the rocks. Solid ice everywhere was the theme of the day. |
