Bring your sharpest, longest crampons. The trail up is hard-packed frozen granular snow with intermittent ice-flows, which are avoidable along the edges in addition to hanging off of trees or roots. Coming down is a little trickier and I had one short uncontrolled slide. I used a newish, very sharp pair of Hillsound Trail Crampons which were fine. The ice is not warm enough to be plastic but a good stomp does get decent penetration. |
