Comments
Comments: We started out in spikes as the trail was hard packed with a covering of light fluffy snow. As we ascended we noticed the fresh snow was a bit deeper. At the junction for the falls, we decided to put on the snowshoes as the trail starts to climb and fewer people have gone beyond this point. The higher we got the deeper the snow and it had been a while since any one had been on the trail. There was a party ahead of us in spikes only headed to Chocorua. They turned at the junction as Champney Falls was not broken out since recent snowfalls. We broke trail in thigh high drifts to summit Middle Sister. Although we broke out the trail it was very soft on our way down. Finished the hike in our shoes!
