Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks South Tripyramid, Middle Tripyramid, North Tripyramid, NH
Trails
Trails: Livermore Trail, Mt. Tripyramid Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, September 11, 2011
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Don't follow the GPS through Waterville Valley to get to the Livermore Road parking. Take Tripoli road to the bridge on the right. Parking is right in front of you. The GPS will try to take you to Boulder Path road which is washed out before you get to the parking lot
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues with the small creek crossings. The water has receded plenty since the rains.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Livermore Road trail is washed out in places, but for hikers, this isn't an issue. For those riding bikes to the trails, you can probably get to the Mt. Tripyramid trail, but might have some areas to walk the bikes along. No major blow downs, but a few trees lay across the trails, easily passable. The North Slide has a lot of bushes with obvious signs of avalanche/washout damage from the storm, but the loose scree and boulders are no greater (or lesser) an issue. Descending the North Slide makes for a "thrilling" descent. If you have any skittishnes (is that a word?), take the Scour trail off of North Tri, or go across to South Tri and down the Mt. Tripyramid trail. The view from the North Slide is spectacular, though.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a Pit Bull along the ridge between North and Middle Tri, seemingly in a good mood (thank GOD!).
Bugs
Bugs: none in the AM, some in the mid-afternoon along the Livermore Trail. Nothing major

Comments
Comments: Thanks to the Flags on the 48 volunteers for packing flags to the peaks. I'm glad you had a great day for the event and that folks were willing to stick around and talk for a while. I hope the planes doing fly-bys post some photos for you on your website.
