Comments
Comments: Soft to moderately packed snow - since more folks had snowshoes than spikes to break out the new snowfall. Deeper and softer the closer you get to the cone. There are sections of bullet ice here and there with a thin coating of snow to no snow covering due to scrambling up and sliding down. Snowshoes are the better option because the trail is still soft enough to be rototilled by spikes. Two folks ascending late afternoon in spikes will have churned up the snowshoe base so expect divoting for the entire length Thursday.

The summit cone was a medley of bullet/blue ice with a thin coating of snow, trace snow, and bare rock. Folks struggled with traction using spikes both up and down that area. Snowshoes or crampons (we swapped to them for the cone) are the better traction tools up there right now.
