Comments
Comments: A 2-3 inch hard crust of ice covered by 2-3 inches of snow — occasionally powdery, slushy, granular or slippery depending on elevation and time of day/temperature. I wore spikes to start, then switched to snowshoes partway up. It was definitely helpful to have the snowshoes (with televators) on the steeper, upper part, but the trail was too rocky for them lower down. That said, snowshoes weren’t necessary and I was seemingly the only person using them. So on the way down I switched back to my Hillsounds and that was fine. Nice day to be out — the round trip took me four hours.
