Comments
Comments: Snowshoes on at the Black Pond Trail to the summit. At least 1 person had been out to the Lincoln Brook Trail yesterday, but their tracks continued past the Brutus Bushwhack, continuing up Lincoln Brook, and it does not appear that they summited Owl's Head. I broke out the Brutus Bushwhack and the upper portion of the Owl's Head Path to the summit. Glad I chose to wear my 30" MSRs today. I overshot the summit, so if you're following my tracks, sorry.

The Brutus Bushwhack was very difficult to descend on the steep section. I actually took my snowshoes off and opted for light traction. The snowshoes just didn't have any traction and they were too much of a tripping hazard without any traction.

The Black Pond Bushwhack is pretty off at the beginning. I followed it on the way out, but redirected on the return trip. When you pass Black Pond, take a hard right. That is the start of the Bushwhack. Its shorter and easier, but at present has not seen much traffic. The other route will get you there just fine, but its a bit longer and more of a bushwhack.

Definitely snowshoes needed at present.

Only saw 3 others hiking out to the Owl today, but everyone was wearing snowshoes and the trail should have a good start. Nice to stop and chat with a couple on the Brutus Bushwhack.
