Comments
Comments: This was an enjoyable hike. Trail conditions were very good - the trail was nicely packed all the way to Starr King. I used snowshoes on the way up, as did several other hikers I saw. They worked well, except for a few very icy spots in the upper half of the trail, where they didn't have quite enough traction. Due to those icy sections and the fact that the trail was quite solid, I wore Hillsound trail crampons on the way down, and they worked very well and I never came even close to postholing.

The summit of Starr King was seeing light snowfall when I was up there, so there were no views, but the snow on the trees was very nice. Not too much wind either, and only a couple of small drifted areas just below the summit. Starr King Trail doesn't have any particularly steep or difficult sections, it's just a constant uphill grind the entire way to Starr King.

Overall, quite a peaceful and uneventful hike.
