As CTFlatlander noted snowshoes were the way to go. snow was soft and even with snowshoes a step off the main trail would posthole. there is small section of the ridge that actually has a monorail. half of the people I saw followed MaineBeafmans advice and went south to north and the other half went north to south. there was more ice on south so it seemed like a good choice (and following a guy's advice who is on grid 2 is probably not a bad plan). the two microspikers probably chewed up the ridge and south. north got smoothed out by me and shoers behind me. with the cold weather coming back in and the storm friday the conditions will be changing. peak 37 for winter Trailwrights (a looong way to go to finish that list) |
