It was a nice warm day for my #2 and #3 or 48. I saw 5 other people on trail, two of them had snowshoes on. The trail was mushy mashed potatoes right from the start so I put on my shoes after a half mile and they stayed on until I reached the road again. The micro spikes were post holing but I was also even in my shoes. South was frozen going up but the people with spikes went down it after I went up so no clue what it looks like now. I butt slid half of North and the mountain claimed one of my pole snow caps. All the lower elevation ice bridges were gone so there was a lot of removing my shoes, rock hopping and putting the shoes on again. The rivers were high and rushing fast and probably rising. Also the gray jays were out in full force looking hand outs. I’ll bring a little bit of bird seed next time. |
