I went to Pierce first, with Hillsounds, put crampons on at the summit of Pierce, went to Eisenhower, then reclimbed Pierce, and continued on to Jackson. After Jackson I switched back to Hillsounds. Most people were in Katoolas today, some in snowshoes. For me, crampons were best on Eisenhower, but others seemed to be managing fine in microspikes. The snow on all the trails was supportive of all traction, in spite of the warm temps. Microspikes would've been fine between Pierce and Jackson. Excellent descending conditions coming down from Jackson. A lot of people out today, like someone said "Free beer!" and everyone came running. |
