| Comments: |
Trail to the Willey Range via the Avalon and AZ trails was well packed. But we wore snowshoes to take advantage of the snowshoe televators (heel lifts) on the uphills. Trail was less packed from the Mt. Tom spur intersection to Field. From Field to Willey there were a variety of conditions from packed to loose granular, post holes, and some ice. A lot of drifting in one area. Stayed the whole day in snowshoes. Returned on the Avalon trail from Field which was a steep descent for snowshoes. The last section was treacherous in places on snowshoes and would have been better with crampons. |
