Comments: One more entry to try to clarify the bushwhack mess. On the way up, the most used track (that I followed) ended up going more south and went through several unconsolidated areas and some brush. It came out on the Isolation Trail quite a ways below the turn to cross the river on the Iso Express. On the way down, 2 women informed me where the bushwhack actually came out. I had passed it on the way up, but it didn’t appear that well tracked even though I was one of the later hikers going up. Specifically, the Iso Express joins the Isolation Trail only 10-20 yards above where the Engine Hill Bushwhack comes up to meet the Isolation trail. I took this route down. It was well packed and easy walking. I would suggest that coming up the Engine Hill Bushwhack the key is to keep right (north) anywhere the bushwhack might generate side paths since I never saw any tracks heading further north from the route I took down.

I would estimate that I passed or met 50 - 75 people on the trail today. While a number of people got away with only spikes, any deviation from the correct route could rapidly result in thigh deep postholing. There is also one short area on Iso Express where people were postholing significantly. While I found spikes perfect for Rocky Branch, snowshoes made the rest of the hike much more pleasant.
