Comments
Comments: Tricky day, but glad to have gotten out and summited. Followed snowshoe tracks from the first water crossing to three smaller water crossings which brought me out to Pearl Cascade. Took about 30 minutes. Nice to have run into another hiker doing the same. We stuck together until he took off towards Mt. Tom and I towards Field. Met again on my return from Willey. Ridge was blustery and viewless. At times wore full face cover icluding goggles. Others' and my own tracks were quickly covered by falling snow and drifts. Saw very few hikers all day going up, probably 9 total. Back at Mount Field I chatted with another pair of hikers who said they built a bridge across that first crossing. So grateful. Made the end of the hike out much easier. Slipped on butt sledded slick trail coming down a couple of times. I suspect this may have been when my thermos flew from my backpack's side pocket. All in all a good day in the mountains. Didn't see or hear a single bird though.
