Comments
Comments: The Doublehead SKI trail is littered with postholes from Microspikers trashing it in the warm weather with no regard for its actual prescribed use (it is not the Doublehead Microspike Trail). Even now, post-freeze, Microspikers were installing a few new postholes.

This is a SKI trail. It does not get machine groomed. Postholes can cause serious injury to skiers. Please use flotation, even when it seems firm. Or, use another trail!

Snow started this morning just before 11. A little over an inch by about 2 PM. The trail would have been skiable at this point, if not for the postholes and divots. I wore snowshoes roundtrip to not leave any trace. The snowshoes also provided superior traction, as the new powder was just enough to prevent Microspikes from getting a bite in the hardpack underneath.

There is still full snow cover on the trail and in the woods, though a few of the lower waterbars are open. Maybe a foot or so of snowpack down low, perhaps two feet higher up. Solid enough to support snowshoes off the packed trail, but not boots.
