Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Smarts Brook parking area off NH-49 was plowed. It was a combination of exposed asphalt and ice.

Recommended Equipment: Light Traction 
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Small streams were easily crossed with a regular stride. All major crossings had snow/ice bridges. 
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple blowdowns along Pine Flats Trail. One is quite large [duck under] and will require a chain saw to remove. There was also another large duck under blowdown on Yellow Jacket that will require a chain saw to remove.

Dog-Related Notes: This is one of most dog friendly hikes in the Whites!

Comments: Nice loop around Smarts Brook with minimal elevation change. We wore MicroSpikes the whole way. We took a herd path at the height of land on Tri-Town trail that lead us to fine ledge with views of nearby mountains. Read the full report with pictures in the link below
