Comments
Comments: Well you can read most of the report on Mark’s. Myself and Melissa started out in the morning with our other 2 starting an hour later. We barebooted with no traction on lincoln woods til just after the first crossing and swapped to snowshoes. Once we were headed up to bondcliff the weather warmed up more making the snow stick to our snowshoes and make them about 10lbs each which was oh so lovely. We met only 1 guy who slept at Guyot shelter for the entire day. Once on bondcliff we were almost blown off. Hilary’s step was a little technical but not as bad as the one by guyot. Bondcliff to bond was windy but it was oddly not as cold as you thought it should be. The snow was soft but it was not sticking to the snowshoes heading up to bond in the trees. We had read a report that west bond had been hit the day before and we tried to pack it out as best as possible. Once back to the trail, very long snowshoe track which was powdery and deep. I was in front of the 4 of us and 2 had already gone through...so unsure what it looks like now but we tried out best. Once heading out of the trees to south guyot.... we had lots of powder and had to pull each other out of it to get up. Guyot was by far more windy...which we didn’t think was possible. Once we made it over was the powder mess. Each of us broke out it felt like from guyot to zealand. The 2 other ladies with us who went in front of us told me later there were 1 or 2 snowshoes that came through but everything was unconsolidated. This took a lot of effort even heading downhill. Once at zealand it was zooming thankfully to all that finally made it to zealand from the hut! Sounded like maybe 8-10 did. Once at the hut, we stayed, and 2 left. It got cold last night and therefore the trails got nice and firm today. Sadly 1 barebooter from the 12th did it allll the way to 302. Could have spiked, but most of us snowshoed out of the hut to zealand road. Once on the road i to, my snowshoes off at halebrook and barebooted the rest of the way, trying not to die on the boot holes. Once to sugarloaf it was a highway out. Awesome db crew out on trail and the hut! Nice time out.
