Comments
Comments: Good day with cool wind which picked up in the afternoon. Approaching SK summit, trees held more snow on conifer branches, and between peaks it was full winter appearance, and wonderful woods along trail. Trail in the am began with fairly solid snowshoe track, but became softer and sticky on later return. Around peaks and the mile between, snow had not siftened and reconsolidated, and was choppy for light traction/bb. Snowshoes in half of hikers did well, and were best up high, and near return to base. Half hikers did light traction, and did well enough. Cooler temps will make MS/bb ok until higher, where ss.s will be better.
Overcast with mid-day breaks of sun stayed just above the presidential peaks, thus allowing excellent views from both viewpoints from Madison all the way to Lafayette.
Another fine day with very fine friends.
Kestrel data: T=34F W= very variable in trees at viewpoints WC=~28F
