Comments
Comments: Solo out and back from Lincoln Woods to West Bond.

Lincoln Woods Trail is well packed to the Franconia Brook bridge. Snowshoes went on from that point and stayed on until I returned to the same spot. It is broken out to Bondcliff summitbut still very soft and unconsolidated. Higher up on Bondcliff Trail I met a solo hiker decending who was doing a multi-day Pemi loop (no small feat with all that trail breaking, well done!). He informed me that it was unbroken after Bondcliff besides his tracks and that I would be breaking out West Bond Spur.

Bondcliff summit has a bit of ice and exposed rock, snowshoes stayed on. The trail decending had some hard windswept snow with softer sections and big drifts, some thigh high. It was slow going up and over Bond. I was optimistic WBS would of been hit by others traversing south but no such luck, not even squirrels or hares have attempted this trail recently. It took me 37 minutes to cover that .5 and felt much longer.

Weather wise it was a great day, much better than was expected. Clear under partly cloudy skies with light and variable winds. Only blemish was a short (3 minute) snow shower on my return over Mt. Bond which was followed by some moderate gusting winds, but subsided as I crossed the ridge back to Bondcliff.

After decending the step I encountered another hiker who was doing an overnighter and shared some good conversation. Suprisingly didn't encounter any others doing the bonds.

If doing this hike this weekend snowshoes are absolutley needed.
