Comments
Comments: A great day for hike! Temps were in the low 30s to start and warmed to about 40 in the parking lot by the afternoon. We ended up using all forms of traction that we brought with us.

The trail was firm and in great shape to start, and spikes (Hillsounds) did the trick for the ascent. Just below the summit on the final push, we saw a few people who mentioned it was icy and a little tricky as they were descending, so we opted to switch to G10 crampons at that point for even better traction. Probably could have made it up in our Hillsounds, but the G10s just had a better grip. Left our crampons on to help us on the descent too, and they made coming down the steep section a breeze! After that, we switched to snowshoes for the rest of the descent back to the lot.

By early afternoon, the trail was getting a bit soft so snowshoes just made sense to keep the trail in great condition. We did see a number of people heading up after we got back to the parking lot, none of them wearing snowshoes or traction, but not sure how far up they were heading.

Weather was absolutely stunning at the summit - not super windy and bluebird skies!
