Snowshoes from beginning to end. This was an out and back from the XC ski area. XC Ski Trails and Gale River Trail all packed but still a bit soft. Still too soft for boots. Frost Trail and Twinway was a different story. Unconsolidated on Frost and on Twinway heading up to South Twin. I know a couple of crews were out Sunday packing down Twinway between South and North but all of their work got erased by drifting and blowing snow. I was solo but there was another hiker behind me that worked to get the trail somewhat packed down. Still needs some work. Spring conditions on portions of Twinway with clumps of snow sticking to my snowshoes. Felt like ankle weights. |
