| Comments: |
Great weather today with no wind except for a 10 mph breeze on S.K. summit, clear blue sky and high visibility making for spectacular views. It was 17 degrees to start and 37 degrees at the finish. We used snowshoes from start to finish today not knowing what to expect for conditions and televators were a welcomed feature. The trail is well packed to the hut and microspikes were usable but definitely go for snowshoes after the hut. The trail from there is softer with more powder and needs to be packed down more. Most of the folks we saw beyond the hut and many before the hut had worn snowshoes including a couple of kids. The trek across the pond was packed down but step off and you'll sink. We saw some post holes ankle deep with about an inch of slushy water at the bottom. If you need these, you might want to get them before the weekenders show up. The warm temps are starting to soften things. |
