Comments
Comments: Wow! What a day for Mt. Pierce. I've been trying to get here this winter, but it seems like every sunny day has also been super frigid, extremely windy, or both. Today's weather was ideal with hospitable temps, clear skies, and just a very light breeze, despite the forecast calling for stiff winds.

The connector and Crawford Path had well-established snowshoe tracks, but the snowpack was still quite soft, so snowshoes round-trip were the best tool today. Webster Cliff Trail had been drifted over and required some very light trail breaking. During the descent in the early afternoon, temps were rising, snow bombs were dropping from the trees, and the trails were turning mashed potato-esque -- soft and sticky. There seemed to be about a 50/50 split between snowshoe/spike use, so the trails are churned up a bit. Off-trail snow depths are deep, maybe 3-4 ft.

Not having the wind allowed for a longer summit stay. Nice to run into Mike, Jackson (canine companion), and friend; Camilla and friend (happy birthday!); and Jim and his canine pal.
